About Zehner Consulting
Morgan Zehner founded Zehner Consulting in June of 2008 in order to bring his unique perspective on commercial district management and nonprofit organizations to a broader public. Zehner Consulting began by assisting civic leaders to better understand and manage their community’s place in the economy, ability to build real estate and business equity, and facilitate generational attrition in leadership and entrepreneurial positions. Zehner Consulting has since augmented its services dedicated to stimulating small business growth and achieving nonprofit financial stability to include marketing research and strategy, brand management, fund-raising development, and strategic project management.
Prior to starting Zehner Consulting, Morgan’s work included staff and executive roles at urban Main Street organizations and city-wide agencies dedicated to affordable housing and improving household finances in Washington, DC. As a result of Morgan’s substantial contribution as a Director at Barracks Row Main Street in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, the organization was awarded a Great American Main Street designation by the National Main Street Center of The National Trust for Historic Preservation. Morgan’s last position in Washington was as the Executive Director of Dupont Circle Main Streets. Dupont Circle is one of Washington’s premier business districts and possesses international name recognition.
Morgan regularly speaks and writes on community and small business branding, management and competitiveness, and has been invited to speak at many professional conferences, including the National Main Street Conference. Morgan holds a Master of Business Administration from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor’s degree from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec in urban geography and economics. He currently resides in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he is a proud resident of the South Minneapolis neighborhood of Powderhorn Park.
