A Message to Readers

Dear Readers:

This is a short note on the future of these articles.

First and foremost, I want to thank the few followers that I have at the present moment. It really goes to show that all one has to do is throw up a website and people will wander over from all corners of the internet universe. It’s pretty cool and certainly gives me something to talk about in Chicago. Now, I don’t want to be one of those people that apologizes for not updating their website, but I am going to remind everyone that I am still getting used to this. The content that appears on this site is only going to get better. So I am going to ask that everyone please just grin and bear it for a little bit. Patience is one of life’s greatest virtues.

I want to clue you in that I am working on a series of essays devoted to retail and everything that makes it so amazing. I believe this topic is especially important given how retail is changing in our very difficult economic conditions. For those of you that might be a little sheltered from the macroeconomic environment, based on your careers or stage in the life cycle (students), I am going to tell you that it is really bad out there. Nobody has money; it is incredibly difficult to make a deal or get anything done. For those of you that share my age and generational cohort these times are going to be very interesting and will take some getting used to. I have certainly benefited from the over two decades of almost uninterrupted economic growth that we have lived through. Life has been nothing short of fantastic, and the growth that has enabled it is nonexistent for the foreseeable future.

These retail essays will touch upon many of our favorite topics: employment growth, target markets, destination development, community self reliance, retail therapy and the sexiness of youth, just to name a few. I hope this wets your whisles a little bit, because man this stuff really gets my blood running.

Thanks again for stopping by. The first retail essay should be up in just a few days.
